Guitar Hero 3

Alright so I’ve played Guitar Hero 2 and I loved it. Got it over the summer to quench my boredom and to prepare for Guitar Hero 3. As time went by I got better and better until I finally got to Hard. Now I wasn’t amazing or anything, but I passed the songs either 1st or second try. If I didn’t then some practicing was required and boom I got to the next song. I stopped after a while due to halo 3, Bioshock, and whatnot. One GH3 came I said fuck it and gave up GH2. Medium went well until the last 3 sets. There was a jump in difficulty but oneI could cope with since I was used to playing Medium. Not so on Hard. I’ve finally gotten up to the last set after my fingers were brutally mauled by set 7 (mainly “3’s and 7’s” and “Knights of Cydonia”). Now I’ve heard complaints, but I figured that I’m better than most of the other casual Guitar Hero players(as opposed to the freakishly good kids i know) I know so it can’t be bad. Well boy was i wrong. The last set is ridiculous. Cliffs of Dover isn’t too bad once you hands get used to what you’re supposed to do, but the other songs are ridiculous. Now don’t say that I just suck and need more practice. The songs look like rainbows! There’s no way I can beat them without destroying my hands. The jump is simply insane. Not sure what they were thinking with this game, but at some point it just gets boring losing the song because you cannot play it and most likely never will be able to. I’ve been replaying other songs on Hard and trying to five star them. I figure if I can get really good at the other songs, that means I can move on to the other, insanely hard songs.  At least GH2 had the difficulty go up progressively, not exponentially. Oh well time to get back to practicing Guitar Hero.

Religion

    I hate it. Yep, that’s what this post is all about. Me hating religion and why I hate it. It isn’t going to be a stupid rant with tons of teenager type complaints and all that. I’ve thought about my religion deeply and these are my strong and well thought out views on the matter. I honestly despise religion and I hate Catholicism most of all.

Now why Catholicism most of all?  Well simply because I feel like it is incredibly tyrannical and too many idiots follow it. I have no problem with somebody believing in God or whatever they choose to believe in. I have a problem when the religion they follow is either run by morons, followed by morons or both. If I meet another person claiming to be Catholic and spouting out retarded “facts” like: “The Bible is the most important and true book in the world!” or “Only Catholics have it right!” or “The Pope rules and everything he says is God’s word!”, I will either shove the nearest pole shaped object into their anus or shoot their head of with a shotgun. Yea, strong views. The problem really is morons.

Now I am most accustomed to Catholicism since I was once a Catholic. That is what I will be using as an example but that does not mean that other religions are exempt from any of this. So about morons who believe in Catholicism. Recently I met a young kid (13) who was a very strong believer in his faith. His beliefs were challenged by a good friend of mine who has also thrown religion away. Now throughout the “debate” his only real defense was “God is always right”. Whether he cited the Bible or some doctrine from the church he believed it was completely infallible and enough to prove his case. If you’re going to follow a religion I think you should at least know what you are following. Catholics do not believe the Bible is completely true and infallible. How could they? There’s four types of Jesus. Unless you’re willing to change the trinity into a union of six people (four being a Jesus) there’s no way you believe that. Also there are two different creation stories. Definitely not both true. Oh and the whole thing with Noah and the flood: disproved, a mere legend. This kid also spoke about rapture which is something made up in the 1600s and definitely not accepted by the church.

Now aside from morons who have no clue what they even believe in, I have genuine complaints about what they are supposed to believe in. Let us start with the pope. alright so we have this guy who is supposed to rule the Catholic Church. Why and how?! Unless Go’s hand reached down from heaven and pointed at this guy there is no way he deserves all this respect. Not to mention Vatican City is a complete slap in the face to “separation of church and state”. Oh and why don’t other religion’s holy places get separated into their own countries? The people treat them as if they were special enough not belong to anyone but their supreme god. I liked Pope john Paul II though. He was cool because he spread love and peace around everywhere. That is great. If you are going to use you influence in that way then awesome. I don’t think they should have this influence, but hell, at least if it gets put to a good use it’s fine.

About the Church and its “rules”. Kneel down, stand up, sit, keep your hands folded, etc. Stupid and ritualistic. Does this god only love us and listen to us if we are doing a certain thing? I’m sorry but that is just wrong. Soon it’ll be “grow your hair this way”,”talk like that”, “don’t laugh”. Pure tyranny. What the church teaches (God always loves you, cares for you, and is willing to forgive you) is completely different from reality (for God to hear you you have to kneel and fold your hands, for God to care you have to come to church each and every Sunday, to be forgiven you must come to this sacrament). Reconciliation is a good concept in my opinion but it is executed in a terrible way. A person should be forgiven by God if they are truly sorry, not if they tell a priest what they did. Of course speaking to a priest can be very good too, but do not make it seem as if a person is evil for never going. If someone needs to get something off their chest and the only way they can do it is by telling soemone, then Reconciliation is a great way to do it. Personal and whatever you say never leaves the confessional.

Why can’t people be good out of simple goodness.  That is my “god”: the good in people. It is amazing how nice some people are out of pure good. Being good because you are scared God is going to get you is stupid and fake. Christmas. Why can’t it simply be about coming together and sharing gifts out of pure generosity and good will. That would mean a lot more to me. As it is now it is either a reflex/instinct or all about little baby Jesus who somehow saved the entire world by dying. My gifts mean a lot more than the gifts I will be receiving. I’m getting gifts because it is simply the time when my parents “have to” buy me something. I’m buying them something because I want them to feel good and it is a time of year designated for gift-giving. Yes, there is a sort of “have to” applied to me as well, but if I didn’t want my parents to be happy I wouldn’t have cared about what I got them or I wouldn’t have gotten anything.

That is another problem. God is everything we don’t want humans to be or don’t understand. Why are humans nice? Hell if I know but the churches answer is God. I got the rant about that above so onto other things of this type. Why are we here? Evolution is the case known now, but before that, and still today (damn evangelicals) it was God that created everything. I didn’t write that, I didn’t invent that, I didn’t do that great deed, God did. God, God, God! Everything is credited to him. Humans aren’t perfect so we use religion to explain why and make ourselves feel better. It is the Devil’s fault. Sin is why. It was that fucking Adam and Eve that did it. Just shut up people. We aren’t perfect, but we should strive to be. We shouldn’t wait to die and do nice senseless things just so we can get to heaven where everything is perfect. We should strive to be perfect now!

That is pretty much a concise version of what I do not like about religion. If I left out something I will add it to a later post or edit this post. Most of these views will most likely be expressed in the short story I plan to have finished by Wednesday or Thursday (26 or 27) and that I will split into parts and post here little by little. The story deals with religion a lot. A whole lot actually. But yea this is not the last time I will be ranting about religion most likely. More things to come as I think of them. I’m actually thinking of starting up a journal or page about the new Monk I want to make in Guild Wars. Stay tuned and as always comments are welcome.

My First GvG

GvG is a term for Guild vs. Guild used in Guild Wars. It is pretty much a battle between 8 people from two guilds. There are huge championships and everything involving this. Well not my really first GvG in Guild Wars, but my Dervish’s first GvG and the one that got me into the PvP of Guild Wars. I had a bunch of fun and I know the rest of my guildmates did as well. Now I have not been very interactive with my guild and many of the people do not know me so well. This is partly due to the fact I was not on that often anymore. Now that I have more free time I’m back and I hope to get closer to my guild. GvG is a fun way to do this and I love it. I now have to think about my Dervish profession in a new way because I’m facing real players not computer controlled monsters. It’s great, competitive and challenging. I can’t wait to do it again, no matter if we lose or win.Here are a few screens from our battle:

Now this isn’t really the first real post I wanted to make, but it was a great experience I had today. I will delve into rant this weekend (tomorrow) most likely. Topic: Religion.
